A pleasant three weeks stroll through England to the ominous sounding Standedge, followed by three gruelling weeks on the Pennine Way. After that, it’s along St Cuthbert’s Way to the sea and the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, one of the most important early Christian sites in the UK. St Cuthbert led the conversion to Roman Christianity in these parts and he was buried on the island in 687. The intricate manuscript of the Lindisfarne Gospels was made around 700 and is now preserved in the British Library.
I hope many of you will join me for a little walk along the way.
